My way to connect with friends and family, thank them for all their support, and keep them up to date on my fight against cancer. Of course, I'll toss in my thoughts on everything else ;)

Another reason not to eat meat
Although there's already abundant evidence that meat production is horrifyingly cruel, Tuesday's New York Times had yet another article about terrible abuses at the slaughterhouse. If you don't stop eating meat for your health or the environment, consider the horrors that are routine in meat production. And even if your Thanksgiving turkey is free-range and organic, do you know how it was treated at the end of its life?
I'm a writer, animal lover, nature freak, and longtime activist dealing with her third bout of cancer. This time it's leukemia. It's a long story but the leukemia originated with my breast cancer treatment in '03. Despite my bad luck with chemo, I'm trying it again (a different type), hoping it will slow the progression of my current disease. But I'm also looking into alternative treatments. Any suggestions?
